I F-in HATE Lazy People.....

Like the overweight, out of shape women that work on the second floor of my office building that REFUSE to take the stairs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WTF!!!! Listen, bitches, I work on the 5th floor...yes, the 5th floor and I walk up those stairs AT LEAST once a day, usually when I first get in. I just don't get it!

I am a creature of habit and of routine. I wake up, go to the gym, shower, get in my car and go to work. I go to the cafeteria to pick up my skim milk to go with my total raisin bran and fiber one medley that I am going to eat at my desk for breakfast. 9 times out of 10, I walk up to the 5th floor from the 1st floor. But that 1 time out of 10 that I take the elevator is because I have tons of bags/stuff with me that I would probably topple backwards and kill myself hiking the stairs. And you know what?! EVERY SINGLE F-IN TIME that I take the elevator there is some lazy ass bitch with her sausage, egg and cheese on a bagel, or with her muffin, that she just got from the cafeteria, and she is taking the elevator to the SECOND FLOOR!!!! Are you kidding me?!!!! There are exactly 27 steps to the second floor, I counted, 27 is not that bad.

Like the woman this morning....I get my skim milk, I take the elevator because I have my lunch box, my purse, my milk, and my backpack with text books so i can study for my exam at work. This woman gets into the crowded elevator that is going 'express' to the 5th floor; everyone in there was going to the 5th, then she was like, "2, please." 2 please?! 2 Please?! are you kidding me? Thankfully there was another woman in the elevator who's lips were faster than mine and blurted out, "You know, you could have taken the stairs for God's sake." She responds with, "I'm not ready for the stairs yet." Lady, its 7:40 a.m!!!! Of course, could i keep my mouth shut? Nope. "Not ready yet? I have already gone to the gym this morning, but yet, you aren't ready yet...." Yup, I'm a mean person, but whatever, she could use to burn a few calories.

I am over weight, but I do my best to burn a few extra calories throughout the day since I have a desk job. I dunno, I just don't get it. Why can't these hens get a clue?!

Gym Attire Part I

WTF is up with people that don't know how to dress for the gym?! Before I explain any further, I want to first say to my Asian friends, I love you all, and I know that this entry is not true for all Asians, just this one idiot in particular (well, maybe a few others, but not many). And Angela, no, you are not white :)

Well, yesterday I was telling my roommate about this other woman at the gym, who clearly does not have a clue. There is this Asian woman, possibly in her mid 30's, can't really tell. She has standard gym attire, dumpy t-shirt and shorts, but then come the shoes. She wears Adidas Shelltops...like really...really, is she trying to take the place of Jam Master Jay in Run DMC?! I mean, sista, c'mon now, you can get a nice pair of saucony's, nike's, or adidas at Modell's for like $30. Does she not realize that when she is trying to run, walk, etc, that she is not getting the right support from her sneaker? I don't get it. But today....today topped it off....She had a pair of "non-workout" sneakers on, maybe sketchers or something with yellow shoelaces that had sparkles in them!!! WTF, is she practicing to play the part of Tinkerbell in some play! UGH!!!!

It gets better....she has this way of stretching and doing weights. She bounces when she stretches....didn't we learn at some point in the 80's that this was bad? Static stretching works best. Also, she does things like kalesthetics, I don't understand, like I said to my roommate, maybe it is part of her wanna-be tai chi routine. I can't say that I am the perfect gym person, and I wouldn't even come close to calling myself a gym rat, but there is common sense at the gym. As I am observing her, I am afraid she is going to pull a muscle, throw out her back, etc. Its the same feeling (melanie will understand this one), when you watch people use the rowing machine at the gym, they are soooo not doing it the right way!!!!! I know I am harsh, but really....why can't people get a clue?!

A Foodie/Fat Girls Dream!!!!

For those of you that don't know...I love this website that my friend Naomi introduced me to....Hungry-girl.com; that is not the fat girls dream come true...well kinda, but its not the one I am talking about. I am talking about the information that I received from HG's daily newsletter today....

"...While fiber is considered a carb (and the grams of fiber are included in the total carbs listed on labels and packages), the calories from fiber are not absorbed by the body. So, many products subtract the calories that come from fiber from the total number of calories listed. For example, if you used your little equation to figure out the calories in a serving of Fiber One -- adding up the calories from 2g of protein (8 cals), 25g of carbs (100 cals) and 1g of fat (9 cals) -- you would come up with 117 calories per 1/2-cup serving. But since F1 has 14g of fiber per serving, you can subtract 56 calories from that total number (4 calories for each gram of fiber), which leaves you with 61 calories (rounded down to 60 on the box's label). This is pretty standard for high-fiber foods these days, and it's the reason the nutritionals on the package (as well as in recipes made with the stuff) don't always add up. The important thing to remember here is that those calories from fiber are NOT absorbed by the body, so no need to panic and add them all back in if you are counting calories."

Fiber subtracts calories?!?!?! OMG, this is my dream come true...something that SUBTRACTS calories. Ok, I know, I'm a little over excited, and I know I'm still intaking calories from eating high-fiber foods, but work with me here. No one has ever told me this!!! YAY!!! I <3 Fiber One! But for those of you that are curious (and not really loving Fiber One), here are some other high fiber foods.... http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/high-fiber-foods/NU00582 (THANKS SAM!!!)

Today, I am the one that got a clue...YAY ME!!!

Are you asking cause you care or.....what?!

You know what annoys me? People that ask how you are and how the family is...blah blah blah, when really...i mean really...all they want you to do is ask them the same question so that they can go off and tell you how miserable their life is. They are the type that will bitch to anyone that will listen. I, unfortunately, know one of these people, and like them overall, but sometimes, I want to just come out and say, "Are you asking me cause you truly care?!"

I grasp the whole part of asking to be polite, that is a part of daily life. But when people ask you, "How are you doing?" the answer is supposed to be, "I'm well, and you?" but with some people, its not. To them, they feel that they should truthfully answer it. I just wanna be like, "Lady, I got my own problems, I don't need to hear yours, I was simply just asking to be polite." Granted, it is one thing when a friend, a good friend asks you, cause they truly do care, but its another when its a co-worker, an acquaintance, you know? Not to mention, this person that i know, has a miserable life, well only cause the thrive on self-pity, you know what I mean? And, I can bet, this person has more money that Roosevelt ever did and yet, they complain about how expensive things are. Listen, you can die tomorrow, and where is all your money gonna go? And honestly, i hope you live a long life, but I don't want to spend a portion of my life listening to how "tragic" yours is. GOT IT?!

Ok, better now :D

Oh....I thought you meant 'those' lips

Prostitutes Sew Lips Together In Bolivia

"A PAZ (Reuters) - Prostitutes in the Bolivian city of El Alto sewed their lips together on Wednesday as part of a hunger strike to demand that the mayor reopen brothels and bars ordered closed after violent protests by residents last week.

"We are fighting for the right to work and for our families' survival," Lily Cortez, leader of the El Alto Association of Nighttime Workers, told local television.

"Tomorrow we will bury ourselves alive if we are not immediately heard. The mayor will have his conscience to answer to if there are any grave consequences, such as the death of my comrades," she said, surrounded by about 10 prostitutes who had sewn their lips together with thread.

Some 30 other women were shown fasting inside a medical clinic nearby.

Mayor Fanor Nava told local radio he would not reopen the brothels and bars closed after city residents fed up with underage drinking and crime stormed the red-light district in El Alto, an impoverished city just north of La Paz.

Prostitution in Bolivia is legal but pimping is outlawed.

Student activists who want the bars and brothels permanently shut down were also on a hunger strike, along with the leaders of an association representing bars, restaurants and karaoke establishments.

"It's not only us owners and the sex workers who are affected, there are thousands of waiters, cooks, bartenders, taxi drivers and street vendors who will be without income," said Ramiro Orellana, spokesman for the business group.

El Alto is one of the largest urban areas in Bolivia, with nearly 1 million inhabitants, mostly Aymara and Quechua Indians."

Whichever set of lips they sewed together, business is still down.

My Pathetic Addiction

So this time, I am the one that needs to get a clue. It has been about 3 weeks now that I have been coming home and turning on Channel 29 and watching Law & Order: SVU and Criminal Intent. Like, what the hell is up with that?! I started watching it one day since my roommate Angela was watching it, now, its like my addiction with the Golden Girls, I just can't get enough.

I mean, lets evaluate, they
always end up solving the murder and figuring it out, so why do I keep tuning in? And on SVU, I can't stand that blonde actress that plays the DA, she's so annoying and also, since when did Ice T stop making rap albums and become an actor? And here's the rub, I really am starting to like Ice T's character and even turned to Ange last night and said, "You know, he's really not that bad of an actor." And seriously....seriously, I have my PE (professional engineer) exam coming up in April of 2008, I really should be studying for that every night and not watching Vincent D'Onofrio play a gumshoe....oy!

Gym Etiquette Part I

So, I began going to the gym again this week. Yay me! I was starting to realize that round is clearly not a good look for me. I mean, don't get me wrong, I'm not actually Round, but I could lose a bit of weight. Regardless, I am trying to do some self improvement here.

I prefer to work out first thing in the morning. Yes, at 5 am; and No, I'm not crazy. Getting up is rough, but knowing that I can come home from work and sit on my ass in front of the TV until its bedtime , if I choose, is totally worth the 'rough' part of getting up. About 6 or 7 months back I had decided to go with the early morning routine; it was nice, I enjoyed it. I saw the same people every morning and it was quite pleasant.

So why did I stop going to the gym? Well, cause the weather became nicer and I began doing this "Couch to 5k" running program. Its made for people that are couch potatoes and want to better themselves and get into a little running. Well, for anyone that knows me, knows that I am the furthest thing from a couch potato, but, I have always claimed that running was against my religion and therefore couldn't do it. I knew that this running thing would not be easy, but I am always up for a challenge, so I began running after work around the Fens. And yes, I was able to work thru almost the whole program. I missed the last week, and basically haven't worked out since mid September.

Now, lets fast forward to two weeks ago, I realized that I hadn't renewed my membership at the gym and the weather was getting not so nice and the days were getting shorter. So, I went to Marino, gave the little freshman work study my $425 and renewed my gym membership (which is a whole other story within itself). Anyways, back to me re-starting to go to the gym this week.

So, I go on Tuesday, all is good, really motivated for Wednesday. Get there on Wednesday, thought, "Well I haven't done the arc trainer in a while, I sweat a lot on that, yeah, lets go with that for 45 minutes...I can totally make this part of my routine." So here I am working out, blastin' some tunes, when all of a sudden I become paranoid because I have seen HER. I had completely forgotten about HER! Shit! God Damn it!! "God, please, please, please, I beg you not to have HER get on the machine next to me. I have been nice to people lately, haven't i?" Up the stairs she walks...she is clearly in my sight and she is eying the arc trainers as well. At this point, I'm thinking, "I'm a dead woman. Mom and dad, I love you, John I love you too....oh and Melanie, looks like you and Mike will have to entertain John in Vegas, cause I'll be in prison." But thankfully, she passed me and moved on. Phew!

Now, I am sure you are asking who HER or SHE is. Well, she is the 50's-ish woman who comes to the gym in the mornings as well. She must be a professor or something. So, what's her deal right? Why am I paranoid when this woman comes around? Well, cause SHE, my friends, does the unthinkable....SHE farts and moans all at the same time while working out...I shit you not! I can understand older people may have some issues with gas, holding it in, etc. Its okay, I can deal with that...but WTF is up with the moaning, she sounds like a porn star!! Can she not f-in hear herself? Lady, does your husband know you moan off the clock? WTF!!!!

It gets better. She is the type of person at the gym...we ALL have encountered this person...that insists on getting on the machine right next to you! Yes, there are 20 other machines, but nooooo, she has to get on the one right next to you. If it is peak time at the gym, this rule does not come into effect, but really....like really, IT'S 5AM!!! There are like 10 people in the gym if u count Omar and his help. Many people would say, "Well, just make sure you don't get on the machine she usually uses." Well Genius, she's a hopper, that's right, she has no routine!! She does something different everyday. I have encountered her on the treadclimber, the arc trainer, the stairmaster and the elliptical. I dunno, do you think its common courtesy, if the gym is empty, to leave one machine (at least) between you and the next person? I dunno, maybe i'm the idiot....
